My Vision for your Club

Louise Kenward (Club Chair): My vision for your Club.

We have a new name, new logo and new kit, so I want to take this opportunity to outline my vision for the Club.

I believe that the way forward for Eastbourne Borough Indoor Bowls Club is both ambitious and inspiring. Achieving such a vision of success involves strategic planning, inclusive community building, and fostering a culture of excellence and support.

Here are some strategies and ideas that might help us realise this vision:

Building a Community of 400+ Members

  1. Outreach and Engagement: Utilising social media, local media, and community events to raise awareness of your club. Partner with local schools, colleges, and community organisations to introduce bowling to a wider audience.

  2. Open Days and Taster Sessions: Regularly organise open days and free taster sessions for different age groups and skill levels to attract new members.

  3. Referral Programs: Encourage current members to bring friends and family by offering incentives for both the referrer and the new member.

Tailoring Bowling and Social Offerings

  1. Diverse Membership Packages: Offer a range of membership options catering to social bowlers, club-level competitors, and those aiming for elite levels. This includes flexible playing times, coaching sessions, and competitive opportunities.

  2. Development Programs: Create clear pathways for progression from social to elite levels, including coaching, workshops, drives and mentorship programs. Partner with local sports agencies or organisations for support, sponsorship and visibility.

  3. Vibrant Social Scene: Regularly schedule social events, themed nights, and community gatherings to foster camaraderie and inclusivity. Consider amenities and activities that appeal across ages and interests.

Achieving Good Standing and Winning Trophies

  1. Competitive Excellence: Establish a coaching team capable of nurturing talents from club to county level, with a clear focus on physical conditioning, technical skills, and mental preparedness.

  2. Participation in Leagues and Tournaments: Ensure active participation in local, regional, and national competitions to raise the club's profile and provide competitive exposure to members.

  3. Celebrating Achievements: Recognise and celebrate individual and team achievements both within the club and through local media channels to build a culture of success.

Fostering a Vibrant Youth Section

  1. Youth Engagement Programs: Develop specific programs aimed at schools and youth groups, offering coaching, competitions, and social activities designed to be fun and engaging for younger members.

  2. Mentorship and Role Models: Connect young players with experienced bowlers for mentorship, sharing experiences, and guidance both on and off the greens.

  3. Invest in Youth Development: Allocate resources towards youth facilities, equipment, and coaching to provide a strong foundation for their growth and enjoyment of the sport.

Monitoring and Evaluation

  1. Feedback Loops: Regularly gather feedback from members on all aspects of the club's operations, offerings, and culture to ensure they align with the diverse needs and expectations of your community.

  2. Performance Tracking: Set clear, measurable objectives for membership growth, competitive success, and community engagement. Review these goals regularly and adjust strategies as needed.

Achieving this vision will require dedication, innovation, and a collective effort from the entire Eastbourne Borough Indoor Bowls Club community.

With a clear vision and committed leadership, your club is poised to become a beacon of success and enjoyment in the bowls community.
